Valves are rhombic to lanceolate, swollen at the center, with apices nearly capitate to rounded. The fibulae of the raphe are distinct, elongate (crossing about ½ of the valve face), numbering 6-8 in 10 µm. Striae are distinctly punctate and radiate. A central nodule is absent.
