Description
Valves are rhombic to lanceolate, swollen at the center, with apices nearly capitate to rounded. The fibulae of the raphe are distinct, elongate (crossing about ½ of the valve face), numbering 6-8 in 10 µm. Striae are distinctly punctate and radiate. A central nodule is absent.

Valves are rhombic to lanceolate and swollen at the center. The apices are nearly capitate to rounded. The fibulae of the raphe are distinct and striae are distinctly punctate.
Compare
This taxon is easily recognizable from the rhomboid shape of the valves.
