Description
Valves with parallel sides, tapering gently to narrowly rounded apices. Fibulae irregular in size and spacing. A central nodule is present. Striae are evident but difficult to count.

Compare
Nitzschia minuta differs in proportion than N. palea and other varieties in that species complex by being much broader. Striae are usually evident, which distinguish this taxon from those in the N. palea complex.
