Get into the secret lives of diatoms and discover the mysteries of the world
I am Curator of the Cryptogamic Herbarium, Bolivian Catholic University in the City of Cochabamba, Bolivia, where I also teach Biology, Botany, Ecology, Hydrobiology and Climatology, all part of the Environmental Engineering curriculum. My training is on diatom taxonomy, although I am also interested in their classification, evolution and ecology. Within all groups of diatoms, I have more experience on araphids, especially those formerly included within the genus Fragilaria. Since year 2000, I have worked continuously with the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, USA (on site until 2006), and staring in 2007, I also became an Associate Researcher working in the Aquatic Resources Unit dependent from the Department of Biology, Mayor de San Simón University, also in Cochabamba.
